PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method and an optical disk recording device capable of optimally arranging the data on a write once type optical disk. SOLUTION: This is an recording method to logically overwrite on a write once type optical disk which has a lead-in area, a user area, and a lead-out area by using the defect management information recorded on the lead-in area. When the user area is divided into three or more of R zones and there are at least two recordable R zones having recordable areas, and further, there are unrecordable R zones having no recordable areas arranged closer to the lead-in area side than the R zones among the R zones having recordable areas, this method specifies the alternate area for the logically overwriting in a certain area in the unrecordable R zones to an R zone other than R zones having recordable areas adjoining the unrecordable R zones.
