PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image conversion apparatus in which required capacity of a memory can be suppressed when direction conversion processing of image data is performed in hardware. SOLUTION: The image conversion apparatus performs conversion processing for converting an image to an image in an appropriate direction by reversing or rotating the direction of an input image. The image conversion apparatus has a first buffer memory 31 (DRAM) whose data reading speed is different in the incremental direction and the decrement direction of an address, a second buffer memory 32 (SRAM) whose data reading speed is the same in the incremental direction and the decrement direction of the address and a memory controller 33 which controls the first buffer memory 31 and the second buffer memory 32, wherein the memory controller 33 reads data from the first buffer memory 31 in the incremental direction of the address by predetermined burst length, writes the data in the second buffer memory 32 and reads the written data in the decrement direction of the address from the second buffer memory 32.
