PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a cast slab having no internal defect caused by solidification delay, with which the solidification delay of molten steel is prevented by the shapes of the inside corner parts of a mold. SOLUTION: In a square cylindrical-shaped mold 4 for continuously casting the molten steel 2, tapered chamfered parts 13 having 2-8 mm length in the horizontal direction, are arranged at all corner parts 12 in the inside of the mold 4, and the respective tapered chamfered parts 13 are made the same shape and these shapes are formed from the upper end part to the lower end part of the mold 4.
