The cam follower (1) has an inner part (3) arranged pivotably in a frame-like outer part (2). The inner part exhibits a contact surface (3`) for a cam, where the inner part is pressed against the cam by a spring unit e.g. leaf spring. The inner part and the outer part are locked with each other by a coupling mechanism (8) in such a manner that only the contact surface and the cam stay in effective connection, where the contact surface is formed by a roller. The spring unit is arranged at a cylinder head and is supported at the inner part.
