FIELD: forestry. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves applying north side marks to cut out samples; imparting number marks to test area, model tree and cut out sample, said marks being formed on slightly flattened part of sample; using sample end surfaces for counting of annual rings and measuring width of annual rings; sawing out sample in the form of circle from large-sized parts of woody plant such as trunk, branch or root, said sample being provided with two cuts arranged at an angle other than right angle to longitudinal axis of woody plant part; forming at least one cut at one end of sample taken from parts of woody plant having small diameter, said cut being arranged at an acute angle, and forming one cut at other end of sample, said cut being arranged at right or acute angle to longitudinal axis of woody plant part; applying marks to side and end surfaces of cut out samples in the vicinity of obtuse angle, said marks bearing number of test area of model thin tree or other woody plant and sample cut out from woody plant sample part; using surfaces of sharpened ends of cut out parts for counting quantity of annual rings and measuring width of annual rings; calculating actual width of annular rings on the basis of width of annular ring measured on surface of sharpened end of sample, with acute angle to longitudinal axis of woody plant part such as trunk, branch or root being taken into consideration. ^ EFFECT: simplified measurement process and increased precision in counting quantity of annual rings and high precision in measuring width of annular rings on woody plant sections. ^ 9 cl, 7 dwg |
