An electric power steering apparatus and a method thereof are provided to reduce a space occupied by a driving motor by reducing the size of a motor using a dual driving motor. An electric power steering apparatus comprises a steering torque sensor(100) for detecting a rotating angle and a torque of a steering wheel(10), a vehicle speed sensor(200) for detecting a vehicle speed, and a steering controller(300) for outputting a driving control signal based on a preset program. A pair of first and second driving motors(510,520) are provided to adjust the steering angle of the vehicle based on the driving control signal of the steering controller. A position sensor(600) is provided to output the position signal of the first and second driving motors to the steering controller.
