An atomizer for dispensing a liquid active material, a container (5) for said liquid, an orifice plate (3) having apertures therein, said plate (3) being in mechanical communication with a piezoelectric element (2), a capillary feed mechanism (7) to supply said liquid to said orifice plate (3), wherein said capillary feed mechanism (7) comprises a highly porous and compliant wick (2) capable of providing liquid to said orifice plate (3) without causing substantial damping thereof.
