<p>An apparatus (10) for shredding a material, in particular plant material, especially grassy material, comprises a rotor (18) having a plurality of shredding elements (32) mounted in articulated manner on the rotor (18) and cooperating with respective shearing means (34) in order to shred the material. Each shredding element is in the form of a body (32) extending transversally and affording an end edge (36) for engaging and shredding the material. Each shredding element (32) also comprises a hole (38) that enables the shredding element to pivot in a freely rotatable fashion about an axis which is substantially perpendicular to the body (32) of the shredding element itself. The body of the shredding element also has a narrow portion (40) in which the perpendicular hole (38) is made and a wide end portion (42) defining the edge (36) for engaging and shredding the material.</p> |
