A piercing press and a method for forming a piercing hole using the same are provided to prevent formation of recess or burr at the piercing hole and make the distance between two metal plates uniform. A piercing press includes a piercing mold(22), a piercing table(70), left and right pads(51,53), left and right molds(21,23), guide rails(92,94), left and right frames(81,83), and a controller. The piercing mold has a punch guide hole for guiding a piercing punch(24), and an outlet port for discharging scraps separated from metal plates. The piercing table has a surface on which the piercing mold is mounted, and fixes a workpiece set on the piercing mold at a work position. The left and right pads are arranged at both sides of the piercing table, and has a punch guide hole for passage of the piercing punch. The left and right pads are horizontally movable from the piercing table. The left and right molds are arranged outside the left and right pads, respectively, and equipped with a piercing punch for punching piercing holes on the workpiece. The left and right molds have inner surfaces on which gas absorbers(60) are arranged such that the gas absorbers contact the left and right pads. The left and right molds are horizontally movable from the piercing table. The guide rails are arranged along through holes formed at the piercing table, left and right pads and left and right molds so as to move the piercing table, left and right pads and left and right molds in a horizontal direction. The left and right frames are equipped with a hydraulic cylinder(100) for driving the left and right molds. The controller is arranged to control a hydraulic pump for supplying oil to the hydraulic cylinder and other units.
