An apparatus for cleaning a rubbing cloth is provided to remove pile, which is generated while a rubbing cloth is finished from a fabric, from the rubbing cloth promptly, thereby preventing an alignment layer from being scratched by the file. A rubbing cloth fixing unit(10) is supported by a base body(5), wherein the rubbing cloth fixing unit fixes a rubbing cloth in an unfolding state. A pile removing head(20) is disposed above the rubbing cloth fixing unit, wherein the pile removing head removes pile adhering to the rubbing cloth. A transfer unit(30) is fixed to the base body, wherein the transfer unit transfers the pile removing head and the rubbing fixing cloth fixing unit relatively so that the pile removing head moves along the rubbing cloth.
