A microwave repeater system using a GPS(Global Positioning System) and a frequency synchronization method are provided to obtain a high-quality reference signal without phase noise through a GPS, and to exactly match reference frequency sources between a donor device and a remote device, thereby ensuring stable quality of signals multiplied into microwave frequency bands. A donor device(300) receives a satellite signal sent from a GPS satellite(100) to generate the first pulse signal for extracting the first reference frequency, and multiplies the extracted first reference frequency to convert into a driving frequency for converting a common frequency signal sent from a base station(200) into a microwave frequency signal. A remote device(400) generates the second pulse signal for extracting the second reference frequency, and multiplies the extracted second reference frequency to convert into a driving frequency for converting the microwave frequency signal into a common frequency signal to provide the converted signal to a mobile station(500).
