An image forming method and a system performing an overlay function are provided to use a specific page of a document as an overlay page and apply the overlay page to other pages of the document. An image forming system performing an overlay function includes a user interface(100), an overlay applying unit(200), and a printing unit(400). A user selects a overlaid page from pages of a document to be printed through the user interface. The overlay applying unit applies the selected page as a overlay of the document and generates printing data to which overlay is applied. The printing unit prints the printing data.
