854,296. Discharge apparatus. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Aug. 25, 1959 [Aug. 25, 1958], No. 27175/58. Class 39(1). A screening can, adapted to slide over and fit closely in heat exchange relationship against the envelope of an electronic valve or transistor, comprises a piece of sheet metal shaped to form a radially resilient cylinder and having external cooling fins. As shown, the can comprises segments 1 adapted to make thermal contact with the valve, adjacent segments being flexibly connected by pairs of outwardly extending walls 2, 3. Both the can and the base 10 are split longitudinally to provide flexibility. Inwardly projecting fingers 9 which act as a valve retainer may be replaced by an annular member formed with radially extending legs which engage in apertures formed at the upper end of the can. In an alternative embodiment of the invention the can may comprise a split sleeve having elliptical rings secured cantwise to it to form cooling fins. |
