Class 52(2) A bed settee with hinged elements 1, 4 interconnected by links 9, 16 and legs 19, 20 has two parallel pivoted longitudinal beams 36 with leaf springs 27 and tension springs 28 disposed between the beams and elements 1, 2, 3 to form twin spring mattresses upon which twin mattresses or a single wide mattress may be placed. A spring jack 33 mounted between leg 19 and element 2 on either side of the bed settee retards the opening of the settee and facilitates lifting of the end elements during folding. The action of these jacks 33 is reinforced by traction springs 81 attached between legs 20 and links 21b. Arm rests may be connected to the end elements carrying the seat and back rest so as to move therewith. |
