An FM(Frequency Modulation) transmission apparatus for audio signals and a method thereof are provided to supply a handsfree function with low cost using a Bluetooth headset by outputting audio signals through an internal speaker or a car speaker according to modes of the Bluetooth headset. The control part of a Bluetooth headset, if the first event is detected, activates an FM function and executes transfer to FM transmission mode(S501,S503). Also the control part adjusts input/output gain according to the first event(S505). Then, after transferring to FM transmission mode, the control part judges whether Bluetooth communication is required(S507). If a Bluetooth communication request is generated, the control part transmits audio signals, received from the portable terminal, to a car audio system(S509). Also the control part transmits voice signals, inputted to a microphone, to the portable terminal, based on Bluetooth communication(S511).
