A lift installation and a method of operating the lift installation are provided to improve a transferring ability of the lift installation by moving a first lift car within a movement time of a second lift car. A lift installation includes an axis(10) and a control device(40). A first lift car(20) and a second lift car(30) are individually movable up and down for performing a destination call. The control device determines the lift cars suitable for performing the destination call. The first lift car moves in timely synchronization with the second lift car according to at least one or more operation parameters or moves with a timely difference from the second lift car, but the first lift car moves within a movement time of the second lift car.
