An information transmitting and receiving method utilizing code-modulated synchronization symbols, a transmitter, a receiver, and a mobile communication system supporting the same are provided to extract additional information related to a system by symbol code patterns comprising code information of each synchronization symbol forming a synchronization channel and to extract information about the frame timing and the channel by properly forming the symbol code patterns. A method for estimating the time of a frame(300) including plural synchronization symbols(310,320) in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) mobile communication system is composed of steps for receiving the synchronization symbols in a time domain; extracting symbol timing information by correlating the synchronization symbols and code sequence corresponding to the synchronization symbols in a time domain; extracting symbol code information by correlating the synchronization symbols and code sequence in a time domain or a frequency domain; and estimating the time of the frame on the basis of the symbol timing information and symbol code information.
