A display device and a display method responsive to distance are provided to allow a user to easily view information such as images or characters and form an intelligent interface through an interaction between the user and a display device. A distance measurement unit(10) measures the distance between a user and a front object. A controller(20) determines display setting conditions according to the measured distance value and transmits a corresponding control signal. A display unit(40) receives the display control signal and displays an image according to the set conditions. A data storage unit(30) stores the setting conditions to be determined by the controller(20).
