A rotary machine arranged underwater is provided to generate energy regardless of the variation of level of sea water caused due to rising tide or falling tide. A water wheel(02-1) is constituted by nine shafts(02-3), and a water wheel room(02) is covered by a cover(02-5). A weight(02-6) is set on the cover, and covered by a cover(02-7). The weight has a cross sectional area wider than the cross sectional area of the water wheel room such that the weight is prevented from being floated by air in the waste wheel room. When the water wheel room is filled with compressed air through an air supply line(06-1) by an air compressor(06), a tide is generated in a water channel(02-4) in the water wheel room so as to rotate the water wheel. The rotating force of the water wheel is transmitted to a converter(07) through a transmission shaft(07-2), and converted into the rotating force in the direction identical with the direction of an output shaft(07-4) by operating a converting lever(07-1). |
