A video/audio processing device (1) such as a DVD recorder has a control means (2) for controlling a power source state. While the power of the video/audio processing device (1) is set to off, the control means (2) has a first standby mode and a second standby mode consuming more power than the first standby mode. The first standby mode is a mode where the power of the video/audio processing device (1) is kept in an "off" state, and the second standby mode is a mode where the power of the video/audio processing device (1) is kept in an apparent "off" state.
