A method of automatically designing a tread pattern of a tire is provided to improve productivity and efficiency by inputting specific extension codes based on an existing pattern when designing the tread pattern. A method of automatically designing a tread pattern of a tire comprises the steps of receiving a pattern shape using a CAD program, converting the pattern shape suitable for inputting an extension condition, assigning the extension condition to the converted pattern shape, extending the pattern shape according to the extension condition and changing a reference pitch of the pattern shape into a variable pitch and aligning the pattern shapes having the variable pitches, thereby completing the tire tread pattern.
