Conducting polymers and their use in oligonucleotide (ODN) probes

A conducting polymer including a conducting linker adapted to connect a probe to the polymer, the linker including an unsaturated organic chain and/or an aromatic ring, and wherein the linker may be adapted to locate the probe at a predetermined distance from remaining portions of the polymer thereby optimising sensory properties of the probe. Conducting polymers are attractive substrates for nucleotide sensors as they can act as an electronic transducer for charged species binding to their surface.
