A vehicle drive mechanism includes: a power transmission mechanism (6) having a rotary electric device (7) and a gear mechanism (9) for transmitting power from the rotary electric device (7) to a drive shaft (16) arranged coaxially with the output axis of the rotary electric device (7); and a control unit formed by a plurality of elements for controlling operation of the rotary electric device (7). At least one (C2) of the elements constituting the control unit is arranged around at least one of the rotary electric mechanism (7), the drive shaft (16), and the gear mechanism (9).
