Use of mimosa extract for the preparation of a cosmetic and/or dermatological composition for topical application, to fight against signs of skin aging. An independent claim is included for a cosmetic process to combat the signs of skin aging, comprising applying the composition containing the mimosa extract. ACTIVITY : Nootropic; Dermatological. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Metallo-proteinase inhibitor. The effect of the mimosa extract to inhibit the metallo-proteinase was tested in co-culture of reconstituted epidermis/human fibroblasts using enzyme-linked-immunosorbent serologic assay. The result showed that the mimosa decreased the metallo-proteinase expression of 20%, 28%, and 41%, at a concentration of 0.2%, 0.5% and 1% respectively.
