A tire (22) is highly accurately aligned with supporting rims (15, 21) by eliminating an influence to the alignment by uneven wear, deformation, partial chipping, etc. of the outer surface of the tire tread. Radial inner end positions of a bead portion (23) of the tire (22) are detected, by a photoelectric sensor (91), at four points spaced apart in the circumferential direction of the tire, and a positional difference between the center axis of the tire (22) and the center axis of a pair of supporting rims (15, 21) is determined based on the detection result and on the positional information from the photoelectric sensor (91). Because the bead portion (23) of the tire (22), which is the target of detection of the inner end positions, is a portion where there is substantially no change in the dimension and shape after running (use) of the tire for a long term, the difference can be highly accurately determined and thereby the tire (22) can be highly accurately aligned with the supporting rims (15, 21).
|
