A method and a system for providing a substitute ring back tone service using a service node method are provided to offer a voice call service by checking a multimedia ring back tone terminal flag according to an ISUP call request, judging whether a calling mobile terminal supports a generic codec ring back tone or a multimedia codec ring back tone, converting a substitute ring back tone sound source into an associated source, providing it to the calling mobile terminal, transmitting the multimedia ring back tone terminal flag to an MSC, and connecting the ISUP call. A system for providing a substitute ring back tone service using a service node method comprises an originating MSC(140), a service node(170), and a serving MSC(142). If a speech path with a calling mobile terminal(110) is connected, the originating MSC confirms whether a called mobile terminal(112) is affiliated with the substitute ring back tone service, and requests an ISUP call containing a multimedia ring back tone terminal flag to judge whether the calling mobile terminal supports a generic codec ring back tone or a multimedia codec ring back tone. The service node checks the multimedia ring back tone terminal flag according to the ISUP call request, converts a substitute ring back tone sound source into an associated source, transmits it to the calling mobile terminal, and connects the ISUP call. The serving MSC connects the ISUP call with the service node, and pages the called mobile terminal. |
