Disclosed are an agent and a beverage/food for maintaining the hardness o f a tooth structure, each of which comprises lactoferrin and/or iron-lactofe rrin as an active ingredient. The use or ingestion of lactoferrin and/or iro n-lactoferrin enables to prevent the occurrence of demineralization of ename l, and is therefore effective for the prevention of dental caries.
