A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided to ensure excellent cycle characteristics by suppressing the decomposition of an electrolyte at a positive electrode and inhibiting the precipitation of lithium at a negative electrode. A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes: a positive electrode containing at least one positive electrode active material; a negative electrode containing at least one negative electrode active material; and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode active material has a specific surface area of 0.1 to 0.8 m^2/g. The negative electrode active material has a specific surface area of 0.2 to 5.0 m^2/g.
