An air breather used for a power transmission system is provided to relieve the pressure built in a rear axle housing by opening a valve with the pressure and closing the valve with a spring, and to block entering of foreign material and moisture with a dust cap. An air breather has a plug(1) assembled to a side of a rear axle housing, a pin rod(2) capable of sliding up and down at the center of the plug, a spring(4) placed between the plug and a support(3) fastened at the lower end of the pin rod to provide recovery force, an o-ring(5) placed between the plug and the pin rod for sealing, and a dust cap(6) assembled to the plug to open and close for preventing entering of foreign material and moisture.
