A channel menu UI(User Interface) service system and a method thereof are provided to previously download overall channel UI data stored in various menu types, in a set top box to store the downloaded data in a memory, so that a user can immediately search desired contents through a short searching path. More than one multimedia service server provides multimedia contents through a network(300). A channel UI data service server(600) generates menu-type channel UI data for information on the multimedia contents, and provides the generated data through the network(300). A terminal device(400) previously receives and stores the channel UI data, provides channel UI menus according to the channel UI data, and receives particular multimedia contents according to a channel UI control signal in accordance with a user's operation to output the contents. An input device transmits the channel UI control signal to the terminal device(400) on a channel UI menu screen of the terminal device(400).
