A method and an apparatus for linking a simple image traffic information service with the present location in a mobile terminal are provided to enable a user to intuitively grasp surrounding traffic information without a specially embedded map by connecting the present location of a mobile terminal about a simple image traffic information service. An apparatus for linking a simple image traffic information service with the present location in a mobile terminal(50) comprises a control part(51), a download part(52), a location calculation part(53), a simple map storage part(54), a nearby map search part(55), and a simple map display part(56). The control part(51) controls an operation to link the simple image traffic information service with the present location. The download part(52) downloads location information using a node and conveys it to the control part(51). The location calculation part(53) calculates the present location of the mobile terminal(50) using the location information delivered to the control part(51). The simple map storage part(54) stores a simple map. The nearby map search part(55) searches the simple map stored in the simple map storage part(54), and extracts a map close to the present location value calculated by the location calculation part(53). The simple map display part(56) displays the extracted map with traffic information.
