The system has a hydraulic actuating device (30) with a clutch slave cylinder (34), which is near a friction clutch mechanism (10), and a clutch master cylinder (33), which is near a clutch pedal mechanism (20). The device has a hydraulic conduit (36) connecting the cylinders, and a displacement sensor (29) situated between the clutch mechanism and the pedal mechanism, and/or on the pedal mechanism. A pressure sensor (50) is situated on the hydraulic conduit and enhances the information, on the clutch state of the system, obtained by the displacement sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining clutch state of a hydraulic control clutching system.
