A voice/data-composite operation system in an FM radio equipment and a method thereof are provided to enable voice and data to be compositely operated in existing cryptographic equipment, such as ARF-94, which has only one port to make a connection with an external device except for a port to connect an FM radio, so that existing FM radios and cryptographic equipments can be used as they are, without any modification. A voice/data-composite operation system in an FM radio equipment consists of an FM radio(10) and a controller(40). The FM radio(10), such as a PRC-999K, executes data and voice communication. The controller(40) is connected with the FM radio(10) and a handset(30) through a cable(50). The controller(40) is also connected to a data communication equipment. The controller(40) analyzes a signal received from the FM radio(10), and automatically transfers the received signal to the handset(30) if the received signal is a voice signal. In case that the received signal is a data signal, the controller(40) automatically transfers it to the data communication equipment. If a data transmission request is generated from the data communication equipment, the controller(40) inserts a specific sink pattern in the head of the transmission-requested data and conveys the data to the FM radio(10).
