Disclosed is a surface printing plate material which has a lower layer and an upper layer both comprising an alkali-soluble resin and laminated on an aluminum substrate, wherein the upper layer contains an acid-degradable compound having a ketal group and an acid-generator. The surface printing plate material has excellent sensitivity, storage stability and chemical resistance and can be exposed to infrared laser.
