Method and apparatus for indicating the last track of a compact disc in a car audio system are provided to display the last track by changing a color of an arrow of a track transfer button when the last track is reproduced during reproducing the compact disc. A method for indicating the last track of a compact disc in a car audio system comprises the steps of: detecting and storing track information data including the number of total tracks of the compact disc and index information for each track according to insertion of the compact disc(S202), determining whether it is the last track by using the track information data every time when the track transfer is performed by a Play command of a user or before/after track search command(S205), changing and outputting a color of the track transfer button on a display by controlling an output unit when it is the last track as a result of the determination in the step(S205).
