PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an overvoltage protection circuit which can cut down on cost by reducing an chip area of the overvoltage protection circuit, an overvoltage protection method of the overvoltage protection circuit, and a semiconductor device having the overvoltage protection circuit. SOLUTION: When an overvoltage detection circuit 15 detects that an input voltage Vin becomes not smaller than a prescribed maximum value Vmax and an overvoltage is inputted into an input terminal ADPIN, a switch element M1 is turned off and brought into a blocked state, and an output node OUT is made to output a divided voltage Vd which is generated by resistors R1, R2 as a voltage Vout.
