PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller reliably feeding fault information required for cause analysis or the like according to a request of an external apparatus when a fault occurs, and an image forming apparatus equipped therewith. SOLUTION: The controller 1 has at least two or more control units 2a and 2b that are related mutually and have communicating means 5a and 5b with the external apparatus, respectively. The controller 1 has fault information feeding means 7a and 7b for feeding the fault information to the external apparatus in response to a command from the external apparatus 9 connected via the communicating means 5a and 5b.
