PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lash adjuster for improving reliability, by improving operability, by preventing mixing-in of air to a high pressure chamber. SOLUTION: A reservoir chamber 43 and a high pressure chamber 44 are formed by slidingly fitting a plunger 42 to a body 41 forming a bottomed cylindrical shape. The plunger 42 is energized in the outward projecting direction by a plunger spring 49. The high pressure chamber 44 and the reservoir chamber 43 are communicated by a communicating passage 42c, and are constituted by arranging a check ball 46 in this communicating passage 42c for opening and closing in response to pressure of the high pressure chamber 44. A support member 53 and a ring member 54 are arranged as a hydraulic fluid liquid level restraining means for restraining the liquid level rise on the outer peripheral side in a hydraulic fluid stored in the reservoir chamber 43, when the plunger 42 moves in the direction projecting from the body 41.
