A spray head for atomizing liquids by compressed-air, for cooling or lubricating machine tools or workpieces, comprises a needle controlled liquid nozzle 14 surrounded by a spray nozzle 2, the nozzles being spaced so that a mixing chamber 23 is formed in front of the liquid nozzle, and the nozzles having frustoconical outer and inner surfaces 23b and 23a with the distance between these surfaces increasing towards the spray orifice. Liquid is supplied to the mixing chamber 23 via the passages F, 9 and 10, a chamber 11 and the nozzle 14, whilst air is supplied via passages L, 4, 5 and 6, a chamber 22, and the spray nozzle 2, and is controlled by a throttle screw 7 having an inclined surface 35. A modified spray nozzle, Fig. 2, has additional air bores 26, 27 for producing a flattened spray. A further embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), has a deflectable extension-piece to the spray nozzle 2.</p> |
