A surface layer material for a gymnastic court is provided to reduce dust generation, to protect the visual acuity of the user, and to improve the competition power by virtue of clear vision and ant-reflection for balls. A surface layer(10) material for a gymnastic court comprises garnet and a binder. The garnet has a specific gravity of 3.4-4.6, hardness of 6.5-7.5 and a particle size of 0.01-2.0 mm. The garnet has at least color selected from a red, brown, green, light green, yellow and black brown colors. The binder is at least one chlorine-containing binder selected from sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride and potassium chloride.
