<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a discharge lamp device where a discharge lamp and a starter are integrally used, in which the discharge lamp and the starter are welded for connection without melting a lead wire drawing-out part during the welding process. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the discharge lamp device includes a melting process in which a projection part 57 or the like of a rear end side of the discharge lamp DL having a socket part 5 on a rear end part of which lead wire drawing-out parts 55, 56 are formed is melted by a hot board HB and is integrally connected with the starter IG. At this time, a welding process is conducted while melting of a first and a second lead wire drawing-out parts 55, 56 are controlled.
