<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method and an image processing device capable of accurately extracting a blood vessel having characters of an intended shape, adaptable not only to a still image but also to a moving image. <P>SOLUTION: Dark pixels, pixels with lower luminance than that of the peripheral pixels, are extracted in a near-infrared image of a living body, and dark pixel image data indicating the dark pixels are created (Step S101). Next, a continuous dark region in which dark pixels are continued, is extracted from the dark pixel image data by using a mask pattern indicating the continuity of predetermined pixels, and continuous dark region image data indicating the continuous dark region are created (Step S102).
