摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device capable of increasing an arousal level without the necessity of excessive energy for lighting or the occurrence of visual fatigue. <P>SOLUTION: The device includes a primary light source 17 that primarily radiates white light and a single wavelength light source 18 that radiates single wavelength light. The single wavelength light is assumed to provide the arousal level defined as an &alpha; wave band rate (&alpha;/&alpha;+&beta;) determined by a ratio of &alpha; waves to &beta; waves of brain waves. The single wavelength light is assumed to have such intensity that the single wavelength light is unobtrusive for operation under normal white light illumination. The arousal level of an operator is increased by exposing the operator to the single wavelength light under the normal white light illumination.
