PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiving and recording apparatus in which sound recording can be performed without missing a sound as far as possible even if a time and labor are taken for selecting a desired sound. SOLUTION: A demultiplexer 23 demultiplexes a designated service or a component from a transport stream. By processing by a CPU 1, a recording control section 30 creates a sound recording file constituted of a service or a component that is designated when a sound recording instruction is received on a recording medium 31. When a sound to be recorded is not designated in a stage where the sound recording instruction is received, on the other hand, by processing by the CPU 1, the recording control section 30 temporarily stores a transport stream during receiving on the recording medium 31, performs later processing to extract the designated service or the component by passing the temporarily stored transport stream through the demultiplexer, and creates the sound recording file.
