PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal register transfer pulse generating circuit capable of generating an optimum horizontal register transfer pulse by adjusting a load drive capability of an output buffer circuit depending on a CCD solid-state imaging element to be connected. SOLUTION: A first phase comparison circuit 20a compares a first intermediate signal X1 set to a target phase state with an Hϕ1 signal via an inverter 24a and strengthens the load drive capability of an output buffer 9a when the Hϕ1 signal is delayed. Further, a second phase comparison circuit 20b compares a second intermediate signal X2 set to a target phase state with an Hϕ2 signal via an inverter 24b and strengthens the load drive capability of an output buffer 9b when the Hϕ2 signal is delayed.
