PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove the contaminant adhering to a reflection type optical water quality instrumentation immersed in water when used. SOLUTION: The optical water quality instrumentation 1 includes a bottomed cylindrical instrumentation body 3 having a transparent detecting window 2, the reflection type detector 4 arranged in the instrumentation body 3 so as to be fronted to the inner surface of the detecting window part 2 to detect the turbidity or the like of water 5 to be inspected and a washing device 6 for wiping off the outer surface of the detecting window 2 to remove a contaminant. A flat surface 3b is provided in the vicinity of the bottom surface 3a of the instrumentation body 3 and the detecting window 2 is provided to the flat surface 3b while the light emission part 4a and light detection part 4b of the reflection type detector 4 are arranged to the inner surface side of the detecting window 2 in parallel. The washing device 6 is equipped with the slide block 7 which slides along the flat surface 3b and the outer surface of the detecting window 2 to wipe off the outer surface of the window 2, and a slide block drive mechanism 8 for sliding the slide block 7 while being pressed to the flat surface 3b and the outer surface of the detecting window 2.
