<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new material useful as an antitumor agent, a cardiotonic drug and an anticancer agent-sensitive enhancer, and a production method of the material from a plant. <P>SOLUTION: The new steroid-type cardiotonic glycoside represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R<SB>1</SB>is a hydroxy group; R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>are each a hydrogen atom; R<SB>4</SB>is a hydrogen atom or an acetoxy group bound in β-configuration; R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>may form an epoxy group; R<SB>3</SB>and R<SB>4</SB>may form an epoxy group in the α-configuration; and the hydrogen atoms of R<SB>3</SB>and R<SB>4</SB>may be eliminated to form a double bond between C16 and C17 carbons) is obtained from an organic solvent (especially alcohols) extract of Nerium indicum Mill. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
