PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optically correct the distortion of an image formed by a two-dimensional scanning of a luminous flux. SOLUTION: The optical system has a deflection means 16 which deflects the luminous flux from a light source 11 in two dimensional directions and a scanning optical system 17 which focuses the luminous flux deflected with the deflection means. The scanning optical system is provided with a negative lens 17a arranged most closely to the deflection means side and a positive lens 17c arranged most closely to an image plane 18 side, the positive lens is a meniscus lens whose convex side is directed to the deflection means side and the incident angle of the luminous flux onto the image plane given by the scanning optical system is within 5 degrees.
