PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinyl alcohol film which is suitable for manufacturing polarizing films which are excellent in hue and with which the leakage of blue light is almost suppressed when a pair of the polarizing films are allowed to cross orthogonally so as to be set into a cross Nicol state and the leakage of yellow light is almost suppressed when a pair of the polarizing films are arranged parallelly so as to be set into a parallel Nicol state. SOLUTION: The polyvinyl alcohol film is obtained by forming a film by using a film-forming raw material liquid containing polyvinyl alcohol, and in the polyvinyl alcohol film, a particulate substance of a water soluble inorganic salt is dispersed. The average diameter of the particulate substance is 1-5μm, and the number of the particulate substance per 100μm<SP>2</SP>areas of the polyvinyl alcohol film is 2-15. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
