PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device having the function of providing a luminance of a display part automatically matched with lightness of the outside during a reproduction mode. SOLUTION: The imaging device having functions of an imaging mode and the reproduction mode includes an imaging optical system 20, a lens barrel 30 holding the imaging optical system 20, a lens protection part 40 positioned at a tip part of the lens barrel 30 and protecting a front surface of the imaging optical system 20, and an imaging element 26. The lens protection part 40 includes a cover part 41 having a substantially square transmissive hole part at a front part of the imaging optical system 20, a lens barrier 42 turning the transmissive hole part closed or opened, and a barrier control part 44 controlling the opening/closing of the lens barrier 42. The lens protection part 40 includes a first external light taking hole 43 for taking in the external light. A light quantity incident into the lens barrel 30 from the first external light taking hole 43 is detected to control the luminance of the display part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
